Satan’s iPod? June 29th, 2005

Intel’s Prescott, sizzling hot or supernova?
So, anyways… Intel’s new chipset variant for its Pentium 4 (”Prescott”) runs a tad hotter than most CPUs, including its slightly older “Northwood” core. By slightly, I mean 171° F (77° C) hot ..and that’s with only SLIGHT overclocking. Jayzus… you can fry a goddamn egg on that thing!

Having a fucking boring desk job, I decided to come up with some other uses for this new chipset. So, here they are, 20 new uses for the Pentium 4 Prescott core:
1. Replacement for a ceramic tile on the nose of the Space Shuttle
2. place for your pet lizard to curl up on
3. Use one instead of a nuclear reactor to create steam to power a submarine/powerplant/etc.
4. Aircraft anti-missile Flare
5. nozzle for a hot-glue gun
6. put a handle on it and make a hair straightener out of it
7. make pancakes on it
8. use it to rekindle the nuclear fire of a dying star
9. play ‘hot-potato’ with it
10. an excuse to use those asbestos gloves!
11. Coffee mug warmer
12. Hot plate for the cheese grits at the Gae-Da’s buffet
13. Bunsen burner
14. emergency hand warmer for polar explorations/mountain climbing
15. Infrared beacon
16. Fire starter in a Boy Scout survival kit
17. incendiary grenade
18. target practice for Superman’s Heat Vision
19. windshield de-icer
20. Central processing unit for Satan’s iPod.

meh. I didn’t say that any of them were funny, just new.

MC Hawking, yo! June 28th, 2005

MC Hawking-small
What We Need More Of Is Science (< — click me!)

Verse 1
I’m a disciple of science
I know the universe is compliance with natural laws,
but many place reliance on the psuedo-science of quacks and
morons and fools because,
their educations deficient,
they put faith in omniscient,
make believe beings who control their fate,
but the Hawk aint with it, dig it,
their Holy writ aint the least bit legit,
its a bunch of bullshit.

They need to read a book that ain’t so damn old,
let reason take hold,
though truth to be told,
they’re probably already too far gone,
withdrawn, the conclusion foregone.
But maybe there is still hope for the young,
if they reject the dung being slung from the tongues,
of the ignorant fools who call themselves preachers,
and listen instead to their science teachers.

Chorus
Upon blind faith they place reliance,
what we need more of is science!

Trash Talk
Uh yeah, that’s right!
Fundamentalist assholes!
Screw the hole lot of them.

Verse 2
Look, I ain’t thomas Dolby,
science doesn’t blind me,
think you’re smart? Form a line behind me,
you won’t find me, truth to tell,
to be a man who suffers fools very well.
Quite the opposite in fact,
I aint got time to interact,
with crystal wearing freaks in need of a smack.
New age motherfuckers? Don’t get me started,
I made more sense than them, last time I farted.

Not to put too fine a point upon it,
but the whole new age movement is full of shit.
Please allow me to elaborate,
explicate, expatiate.
from astral projection to zygomancy its a,
mish mash of idiocy.
Instead of the archaic worship of seasons,
they should explore logic and reason.

Chorus

Trash Talk
Fucking new-agers!
Is there any amount of bullshit they won’t swallow?
It’s two-thousand-aught-three goddammit!
When are these morons gonna join us in the 21st century?

A NewGen Regen… June 24th, 2005

Now that I more or less have the Moloth.com blog setup up how I want (except for a few links and minor graphical changes), I’m going to try and concentrate more on the content of the NewGen site. This little plot of internet needs to have SOME sort of reason for existing, some sort of content. Therefore, i’ll be working over the weekend to get some of my prepared material up and viewable on the NewGen site. The format may not be pretty for now, but at least it will be there.

BF 2 (No, not the sequel to the anally-inspired porn title) June 21st, 2005

I think the perfect game has been created. It is flawless. That’s not to say that it is immune to flaw, however. Let me eloborate… The Earth is a perfect (eco)system, right? Well, whats the one thing that cocks it all up? That’s right: People. Battlefield 2 is that perfect system, sullied only by the TKing, non-order following wastes of carbon and amino acids we call Humans. Nothing is as blissful as being on a good team, with a good Commander, in a good squad with a good squad leader… and nothing is as frustrating and disappointing as having the opposite.

The disgust I feel when I am on bad team in BF 2 must be something like what Yahweh felt when that whiny lump of clay called Adam despoiled Eden. Its like a pure and wonderful thing is being desecrated before my very own eyes. A good Server of BF 2 is not unlike a heavenly realm of M1A1 Abrams tanks and M249 SAWs… all is peaceful and right in the world when your squad employs a Medic, a Support, a Sniper, an Anti-Tank and an Assualt working perfectly in time and step. It’s the music of the spheres, people. Music of the fucking Spheres.

And then.. the Demons of Filth decend upon your team…
“< .XXeMiNiM Roolez> TKs GaugeLockhart”
“< .XXeMiNiM Roolez> ha ha! ur a noob! i r l33test at baddle feeld!”

..and so forth.

If you find a good server out there, cherish it. love it. enjoy it while you can.

From the First born… June 19th, 2005

As everyone knows, today is Father’s Day. Today is a day that we honor the man that sired us, whether it was in done a drunken stupor in an alley outside of Club La Vela or in the safe and hallowed halls of a sanctified and confining marriage. I think that my father was a pretty normal father figure during my childhood. He was gone for most of the day, working his ass off so that his family would have food on the table and a roof over thier heads. He was both ultimately comforting and somewhat scary. He was the larger than life figure of protection and wisdom and he was also the disciplinarian, the symbol of retribution for wrong-doing.

Like most boys, my father was the one who took me fishing, taught me to ride a bike and showed me to do what was right and to stand up for myself (except against him, of course). I look a lot like my father: slightly recessed chin, small feet, kinda skinny. Hopefully, I’ll have his hair at his age. I got my sense of sarcasm and condescending sense of humor from him, as well. I’ve had to train myself out of using it in that manner, though. I also got his temper, which is another thing I’ve worked very hard to control and redirect. Luckily, my patience is my own.

One of the things that i WISH that i had gotten from him was his work-ethic. That man works more and harder in a day than I do all week. Unfortunately, I’m rather lazy by nature (thanks, mom) and I have to exert more willpower to pull myself off of whatever i’m currently on to, not only to take care of what i need to, but also to exceed and go that extra mile that life sometimes calls for.

Since the divorce in 1997, my Dad has mellowed out quite a bit and has become a much more balanced individual. I greatly enjoy his company… indeed, my brother, father and I tend to end up crying in fits of laughter at each others exploits and comments. I now truly feel that his best wishes are with me and that he wants me to succeed in life… something that i feel was missing from both my parents for most of my childhood. I was left to my own devices for a majority of the time. Now, however, my father has been in my life more than he ever has. He is always looking for an angle to help me out, give me a lead in career or education, a sincere piece of advice or just listening to me whine about my love-life.

There are still so many things that i don’t know about my father. He has never been one to discuss deep or personal philosophical material. He has not once, in my memory, even mentioned religion of any kind or any sort of belief system. That is certainly not to say that he doesn’t have a strong moral will. His ideas of right and wrong, fair and unfair, and the simple respect for other people (even if it isnt returned) is something ingrained in me and I am very thankful for it. He is honest (within tact, much moreso than me) and he garners a level of trust from other people that i wish i could attain. I have only known him to be dishonest one time in my life and it was one of the causes of the aforementioned divorce.

In any case, I love my father very much and I respect everything that he has worked for and accomplished in his life. He is someone that can truly say that he has earned everything that he has in life. His career, his education and his experience… all things that he has only because of his own resolve and dedication.

I love you Dad… and thanks for not naming me “George”.

And a sad, sad story for Father’s Day. Call your Dad, people. Hug him if you can or think of him fondly if you can’t.

‘Tis better to… June 13th, 2005

…be an ex-slave than an ex-king.

yeah, anyway. My main hard drive has finally started to crash on me. I just ordered a new 160 Gig HD (for less than $100) and a new Nvidia GeForce 6800GT video card for my lil girlfri–… uh, computer. My hard drive led a good life; it has installed and played some of the bestest games of the past 3 years. Earth & Beyond, how I still miss you. Counter Strike, oh, Counter-Strike.. what a bittersweet mistress you were. NeverWinter Nights… City of Heroes… World of Warcraft… oh, the joy we shared. Battlefield: 1942 and Desert Combat… Several iterations of the SimCity line… Rise of Nations, UT2K4, and yes.. even the original DooM. I suppose the near constant installing and uninstalling of games and software was simply to much for your megnetized platters of pure love. How I partooked* of your 7200 RPM data transfer and storage. You will be missed, you cheap piece of shit. 3 year lifespan for a Hard Drive? thats IT?

Out with the old, in with the NEW! WOOO! GeForce 256 Meg, 6800GT Video Card, bitches! woo!

*hm.. i rather liked that one :-D

Ear-Hair Assassin June 13th, 2005

Its always fun when my Father, my Brother and I get together. We have a habit of laughing until we can’t see, breath or drive. I don’t know what it is about our humor that steals certain bits of our 5 senses, but dammit, it sure is fun. Ah, we also had the pleasure of watching a Cracker Barrel waitress attempt to decipher my step-mothers “E. Coli Happens” T-shirt. Some one in the food service industry doesn’t know what E. Coli is. Great. Luckily, our much wiser waitress clued her in.

B33j (AKA Daystrom, AKA Lil Bro, AKA Brian) and I are finally totally and comfortably moved into our new abode. I swear, if he complains about how its arranged (I hesitate to use the word “decorated”, lest my heterosexuality be brought into question) I’m gonna kick him in the dick. He wasn’t exactly instrumental in getting the place cleaned up and i had to place most everything… furniture, wall-mounted weapons, posters… all of it I had to decide where to put. Luckily, i DID have some feminine assistance with decor– arranging.

A bleak discovery was made this weekend, as well. My… *sob*.. my video card is too old to even run Battlefield 2… Gawdammit. Now, will my little 1.9 Ghz, 1 Gig o’ RAM ‘puter even be able to utilize a $300, 256 meg Video Card? I guess I’m gonna have to find out if i want to be able to experience the joy that is BF 2.

Now that the apartment is in order, i will be able to focus more energy on improving this site and the NewGen site. Content, content, content…. If there were only a way to simply download whats in my brain and display it on a website… bah. Well, with Russ’s assistance and ‘techpertise’ i should be able to start really pulling this place together. My dream of being a writer will not be denied. At least I have a means to get my voice out into the aether (… “ae” is SO much cooler looking than just “e”). Now, its only a matter of getting the right people to see it.

Question to all the people that may see this: What does Love (as in “in love”) mean to you? Does it matter in your lives at all? Do you seek it or run from it? Are you jaded or a hopeless romantic? Have you loved and lost or are you still seeking The One? How do you deal with someone who thinks that love is worthless?

Official Welcome June 9th, 2005

This is the personal website of Scott Kelley… if you don’t know a “Scott Kelley”, what the fuck are you doing here? This place will soon hold my collection of rants, philosophies, papers, writings, humorous pics, and my D&D Campaign Setting-in-progress known as “NewGen”.

Hey.. Looky. The top banner is much better now. Thanks Day!

Moloth is the alter ego of the ultra-ego, Scott Kelley. Probably smarter than you, probably has less friends than you, probably likes kinkier sex than you do. I’m an atheist because I’m agnostic. I believe in balance in all things. I’m a holistic thinker. I’m tall, skinny, Irish and I have small feet… Do the math. I’m the Rifleman. I like to think that I’m a leader, but I’m really not. I’m the Philosopher. I’m the activist. I’m the guy who thinks too much. I’m a hopeless romantic and an Idealist. I love sushi. I state my opinion even though no one wants to hear it. I point out the elephant in the room. I do things just to fuck with people who i think deserve it. I hate my hair. My friends call me “Dungeon Master“. I like dark-haired girls. Cream Soda is my drink of choice. I like to occasionaly smoke my Meerchbaum pipe. I stand up for what I believe in even when the entire world tells me to shut the fuck up. I get “cute-ed out” easily. I’m a cat person. I like mushrooms on my pizza and big black boots on my feet. I actually own my dream car (even though my current one is black). I’m proud as hell to be a Liberator. I trust my friends with my life. I’m a writer that doesn’t get read and a lover (not a fighter) with no one to love.
