Wow…. Stephen Colbert is quickly becoming one of my favorite people. His new show on Comedy Central is an example of his humor and genius of hyberbole and satire. This article from the Onion AV Club only furthers my respect of the guy.

Apparently the DDO NDA was lifted a couple days ago. That’s what I get for not paying attention for, well, a month.

I’m not sure that the game is completely “there” yet as an MMO, but it is the most D&D-like experience I’ve had in a video game. It relies almost exclusively on the dungeon crawl part of the tabletop game with a minor social element in finding and maintaining groups.

You can’t really fault the game for that though. The last tabletop character I made for D&D was Tangent Sinewave. He was a Bard who happened to be a mathematic genius and didn’t believe in “magic”. There is simply no way to allow that concept to be fleshed out without involving a human brain.

And, let’s face it, sometimes you need a good hack and slash session. DDO delivers on that front and does so differently enough from your standard MMO fair to be worth looking into.

AH HA! I’m NOT the only one who makes “scott-names”!!!

In other News, NeverWinter Nights is STILL the best D&D game evar.

Must have been something funny in the coffee… January 11th, 2006

As i’m sure everyone knows, i’m not real big into the whole “God” thing. I don’t believe in magic, miracles, a ‘force’, an “intelligence”, the supernatural or any other various bits and pieces of imagination and ignorance. BUT… if there was something out there that came close to the concept of a “creator” I imagine that a conversation that i would have with it would be something this: http://www.fullmoon.nu/articles/art.php?id=tal

Now, there are several holes even in this thought-provoking piece that STILL fail to realize the concept of a magical enitity that is all-powerful. I’ll post my thoughts on that in the next day or so.
