I admit that nearly all of your points are good ADVICE... however, that does not detract from the point that the entire system is working against you in the goals you've stated. Its working more AGAINST you now, than in any other point in American history, besides the Great Depression.

Frankly, the only point you've made that i have any real issue with, is the "You too can be rich. But you have to be smart and KNOW what the hell you want and how to make your money work for you…". This is numerically and statistically false and is misleading. CAN BE and WILL BE are two very different things. I CAN be a woman, if i so chose.. hormonally, legally and emotionally, all it would take it is surgeries, hormone treatments and legal hearings... but i'll never actually BE a chromosomal woman. Strange metaphor, I know, but saying 'hard work and being smart with your money'; will NOT get you rich in this country any more.

It SHOULD, yes, but it DOESNT. Why? Because the system between the Government, the Banks and Wall Street. http://motherjones.com/politics/2011/02/income-inequality-in-america-chart-graph

This isnt a whine. it isnt a conspiracy theory. Its fact. numerical, mathematical, historical and observable fact.

There must be a balance between the ideals of Government (equality, fairness, protection and support) and the ruthless, efficient and expansive goal of Capitalism: to make money. Only THEN can you have a healthy economy, a fair society and an environment where the common man can TRULY use his skills, expertise and drive to improve his lot in life.

I support your points. i truly do. Its just that the current corrupt system works directly against them.

As I am a lower middle SINGLE Working man, I am here to tell you.

1 I don't believe in a GOD.

2, your point about not having any way to get to where you want to be is a bunch of one sided crap.

3rd it's not the middle/lower class that pays for everything. IT'S THE SINGLE CHILDLESS WORKING BASTARD that does. Facts are facts. People with children are who programs are designed for. Everything from police to welfare to hospitals... No children no help. I don't care if you are rich or poor... facts are Parents get MORE money back from taxes than I Feel they deserve. FACTS are that when PEOPLE CREATE CHILDREN they should have to pay... CHILDREN AREN'T CHEAP and ARE NOT A FREE RIDE! Pay for what you use, and PLAN for children... if you can't afford to feed yourself then DON'T HAVE ONE! Now that that is out of my system...

4: You too CAN be RICH... But you have to be smart and KNOW what the hell you want and how to make your money work for you...

DON'T BUY Crap you don't need... Don't keep throwing your money away to credit...

LEARN TO SPEND SMARTLY not like you have been.

PLAN PLAN PLAN... Cut out the bullshit... And save your money... Invest it WISELY...

LOOK AT YOUR OPTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY. sometimes it's better to spend MORE for a better product that you DON'T have to replace in 3 months.

REPAIR REUSE AND PASS IT ON! don't throw out working items... just cause you don't "NEED" it don't throw it away... Sell it, salvage it, or pass it on to someone that NEEDS IT more than you.

QUIT BEING WASTEFUL WITH YOUR MONEY... Pay off your credit debt too...

So many years later, the 'crisis' still kinda boils under the surface. Its evolved over time.

Now, ive recently made a big change in my life by moving literally across the country to California. I've intentionally removed myself from my comfort zone and have put myself in a position to sink or swim.

I suppose my stresses are more legitimate. i stress about work more than my personal philosophy. Im still very susceptible to existential conundrums, though. lol...

At least those of us in the rest of the world got mad about most of these things... It still seems absurd that you don't have an accessible national health system though, but it's not as absurd as most of these other moments in your recent history.

I know your country is still suffering from the aftermath of the recession, but wise decisions can still be made. Surely the first starting point in any government is to ban pay-offs in any way (for political campaigns or otherwise), so that no-one is 'owed' anything? My little idea is that each candidate standing for election should have a certain number of signature-verified supporters, and then should be given $X each. That way all are on an equal footing to begin with. You will still get the lobbyists doing their own thing and running their own campaigns, but none of them are owed any favours.

Once the 'favoured' groups are out of the way, perhaps the pollies can get down to working out what is best for the country, the people and the rest of the world (where they seem to leave their giant footprint all over the place).

After this, it's time for all peoples to decide to vote for what is right, not just for what is 'right' for them. It's time to focus on what is right for our whole community (and, for the world, for the planet)- not just what will protect 'my' interests. I know this is not a common feature of the post-modern era, but surely we can evolve enough (again) to think beyond ourselves?

I'm interested to know, now 3.5 years on, what is your personal progress? Did you set realistic goals? Are you auditing yourself on a regular basis?
I hope to hear that this was a good turning point for you. cheerio, L

Lloyd Dobler: I am.
Corey Flood: No. The world is full of guys. Be a man. Don't be a guy.

There is nothing in the Constitution about banning slavery or letting women vote, either... Until we ADDED those Articles, after the fact. The Constitution is a 'living document' that must evolve and improve with the times.

the Amendments:
    * Amendment 1 - Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression
    * Amendment 2 - Right to Bear Arms
    * Amendment 3 - Quartering of Soldiers
    * Amendment 4 - Search and Seizure
    * Amendment 5 - Trial and Punishment, Compensation for Takings
    * Amendment 6 - Right to Speedy Trial, Confrontation of Witnesses
    * Amendment 7 - Trial by Jury in Civil Cases
    * Amendment 8 - Cruel and Unusual Punishment
    * Amendment 9 - Construction of Constitution
    * Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People
    * Amendment 11 - Judicial Limits
    * Amendment 12 - Choosing the President, Vice President
    * Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished
    * Amendment 14 - Citizenship Rights
    * Amendment 15 - Race No Bar to Vote
    * Amendment 16 - Status of Income Tax Clarified
    * Amendment 17 - Senators Elected by Popular Vote
    * Amendment 18 - Liquor Abolished
    * Amendment 19 - Women's Suffrage
    * Amendment 20 - Presidential, Congressional Terms
    * Amendment 21 - Amendment 18 Repealed
    * Amendment 22 - Presidential Term Limits
    * Amendment 23 - Presidential Vote for District of Columbia
    * Amendment 24 - Poll Taxes Barred
    * Amendment 25 - Presidential Disability and Succession
    * Amendment 26 - Voting Age Set to 18 Years
    * Amendment 27 - Limiting Congressional Pay Increases

A nation has a military (and a police force) in order to protect its citizens... why would a nation deny its citzen's protection from illness and injury?

Let me give you the Libertarian reply to that comic..."Yeah, but bookstores, golf course, the auto industry, etc. would be way more prosperous and would offer even cheaper products if there weren't libraries, public transport, etc." and/or "The government has stolen private citizens money to build libraries, subsidize public transportation, etc...that is wrong! Who are they to redistribute wealth this way or at all? Where does it end? There is nothing in the constitution about the right to libraries, public transport, etc."
