Re: Images

It's just Lightbox, you might see it on a lot of blogs and stuff. Does it really take that much longer? I think it takes less time since you don't have to load a whole new page, just the image. Then when you close it you're still on the page you were on so you don't have to go back.

Re: Images

In my opinion it was easier the old way. However, just my opinion.

Re: Images

I've replaced it with one called Highslide. Looks like it's much faster.

Re: Images

I can look and see. What are your requirements for an image gallery, and what does the current one not do that you'd like it to?

Re: Images

Well, image links, like thumbnails for galleries, (instead of a single column of text links) would be nice.

plus, less clicks to get to the actual image itself would be cool...
right now its:
click on the gallery..
click on the image you want, which takes you to a 'gallery view'..
click AGAIN to see the actual image, full-size and out of the gallery.

As of right now, the main gallery index (http://www.moloth.com/pics.php ) is a random, single column list of text links... hard to see and very unorganized. It just makes it hard to find stuff.

Re: Images

Does it need to be integrated with Wordpress? I notice you don't use that much anymore.

Re: Images

if it fits with the overall theme of the site, it will be fine with me.

about the Blog... the weirdest thing: my FireFox at home does not let me use the text field when i attempt to write an entry. i have to use IE.

Re: Images

I wonder if it has anything to do with this borked entry you have on the front page.

Re: Images

So speaking of your photos, what happened to all the hot naked chicks?

Consider it un-borked now.

And the WYSIWYG editor seems to work just fine for me in Firefox...perhaps you have an interfering extension or something?

Didn't you have this problem before?

Re: Images

Has anyone noticed that the pictures never come up in order.  Like with the Radiohead pics, I uploaded the cover first, then the back.  But like with every photo I upload, the second pic always comes up first, then the first one is second.  ?????

Re: Images

Yeah, I have noticed that. Makes it kinda hard to say "In the 2nd picture you see..." cause I never know which pic is going to be in which order. Is there some kind of secret order we're not seeing?

Re: Images

I think the secret order is...alphabetical. But yeah, it would be nice if they were displayed in the order they were uploaded.

Re: Images

Can someone make it where I can upload pictures that are not .jpgs?  Bitmaps (bmp) will not load.  I really don't want to have to open and resave 20-30 photos as .jpgs.

Re: Images

Let me know if this can be fixed or not.  If not, I'll get rid of my .bmps and try to remember that we can only post .jpgs here.  I just had a bunch of lolcats pics that I was going to post and I guess that site only uses .bmps.  Is there an easy way to make them all jpgs?  Normally I have to open each picture in MSPaint and save them as .jpegs and hope it doesn't fuck up the picture.  If I just change the extension from jpeg to bmp will that break the picture, or is that an easier way to do it?

Re: Images

Bitmaps should be supported now. Here's the list of allowed file extensions: gif, png, jpg, jpeg, bmp

Keep in mind bitmaps are uncompressed images, and take up a lot of space. Compressed images like gifs and jpgs take up a fraction of the size with little impact on image quality. This bitmap of Duke Nukem is 1.2MB! The gif version, by comparison, is only 228KB.

Re: Images

Thanks!  I'll keep the size thing in mind.  If you get too many large .bmps, is there a way to run a report or something so you could tell where the large files are and do some house cleaning?  Like maybe if they are over a week or two old, you could delete them?  Most people only look at stuff the first week or two they are on here anyway.  You'd only delete the really big pictures and only if you needed the space.  Just a thought.  I'll keep my .bmps to a minimum.  Just didn't want to have to resave all of my latest batch to jpegs.  I'll try to be more careful in the future.
