Re: Audi TT quattro

I've always imagined TTs as being modern Karmann Ghias. Except they're actually fast.

That's interesting.  Is it as you imagined?   I don't get Karmann Ghia from it, however I've not seen one up close and personal.

Why not? They're both very stylized, rounded, and classy. And they're both built on chassis common to other cars. The Ghia on the Type 1 (beetle) and the TT on the A4 (Jetta, Golf). And they both come in coupes and convertibles. I think VW could have easily used the TT as a base for a new Karmann Ghia, much like they introduced the New Beetle.

Re: Audi TT quattro

My step brother drove a Karmann Ghia as his first car/ GIANT money pit, but he picked up loads of girls in it.

I would love to have one if I knew it would be reliable.  I would also love to see VW bring it back

Well I hadn't thought of it that way...

Re: Audi TT quattro

iPod integration with the factory stereo, finally. I used an iPod interface from Peripheral Electronics and a mount from ProClip. The iPod interface plugs in where the CD changer goes so it works as direct line in audio by fooling the head unit into thinking it's connected to a big CD changer. Back and next buttons on the radio control the iPod, as well as the fast forward and reverse buttons. I had pretty much the same thing in the Jetta.

The only difference is, in the Jetta the unit plugged directly into the back of the head unit. In the Audi, it connects in the back seat where the CD changer is. A minor difference I didn't realize until I had torn the whole dash apart cause I can never get the stupid radio keys to work.

Re: Audi TT quattro

Got the oil changed, and noticed a torn CV boot. Damn. Also a friend of mine hooked me up with some VAG-COM and we programmed the control module to unlock some features. One touch unlocking all doors with the remote, and window roll down/roll up by holding down the buttons on the remote. Also automatic door locking when you hit 15 MPH, like the Jetta.

Re: Audi TT quattro

I replaced the wiper blades yesterday and the wiper arm snapped back and cracked the windshield. Not fun at all.

But, I do have new pics. Washed, waxed, claybarred, and detailed.

Re: Audi TT quattro

i do love the new style of carbon-black rims and wheels. i think it looks great on sports cars. the shiny, sparkly chrome style looks kinda fake and pretentious to me. to much 'bling' on what is supposed to be a mean, lean machine.
