District 9 and Inglorious Bastards...

Saw me some new movies this morning.  I thought District 9 was great.  I haven't been kept in that kind of suspense throughout an entire movie in a long time.  And the special effects were great.  I was very pleased with it.  Best scifi movie and I have seen in a while.  Inglorious Bastards is good too, just nothing happened to really take it from great to amazing.  It is fun to watch and if you like Quentin Tarantino movies, then this one falls right in line with those.  But I guess that is what bothered me a little about this.  Many of his movies are kind of all revenge movies, but with different settings.  For example, Kill Bill = Japanese revenge movie.  Bastards = Nazi revenge movie.  Death Proof = Girl revenge movie.  Still fun to watch, it just might be time for him to change things up.

Saw District 9 tonight...loved it.  Was really rooting for the white guy AND the green guy, ya know?  Unfortunately, I wasted some time wondering what the social implications were until I finally decided just to sit back and enjoy the movie.  Was intrigued by the Zombieland trailer:

It's a social parallel to apartheid get it? GET IT?!?! -beats you over the head with it-

They did lay the apartheid symbolism on a little thick but it doesn't really take away from the movie at all.  Still my favorite Sci-fi film since Serenity.

Yeah, I was unaware of zombieland and legion till I saw the whopping 30 minutes of trailers before the film.  Both looked pretty good.  There was also an avatar trailer that looked ok.

Zombieland made me LOL...as well as Final Destination.  I laughed so damn hard while the people next to me were jumping in their seats...I have a fine tuned morbid sense of humor I guess.
