Looks about right, sometimes I'll make exceptions to about 2000, but not much later...
Oh wait, anything that hit here in 2000 was made in or before 1997. Nevermind.
Also, everything else made by this guy on Newgrounds is amazing. I <3 Metal Gear Awesome. I <3 it to pieces.

I've been thinking about why older anime is better recently and I came to some conclusions:
1) Modern anime is too bright, too colorful. Older animes have a soft focus to them that makes them physically easier to look at.
2) Modern anime is too loud. Its all shouting and METAL GUITARRRRR. Gone is the quirky synth theme songs and quiet moments of reflection.

As for 1) I think that is largely in part due to digital art replacing hand drawn.
