Has anyone been paying attention to this title? It got released yesterday and I had no idea it even exisited, which is a crime because it looks fucking amazing. The best way I can think to describe it is that it's a fast paced FPS in Fallout 3's setting with MMO leveling and weapon drops. And it supports 4 player coop. I'm really leaning hard towards picking it up tomorrow.

PC drops on the 26th and I don't know if PC and 360 users can party up. Thinking about getting it with what would have been my Modern Warfare 2 money.

Also on PS3.

Since I finally got a job I think I will end up picking up Borderlands. 5$ off if you buy it before the 26th on Steam

Holy fuck this game is digital crack. It's blending so many genres together perfectly.
I'm in love with Claptrap the tutorial robot. He's like a cross between T-Bob in MASK and Gir in Invader Zim.
Also rad about the 360 version? 2 player splitscreen coop!

OK, I'm gonna expand on my experience with the first 3 hours of the game.
The opening cinema is awesome. It starts with a very nice storybook sequence and goes into a really cool desert piece introducing the four playable characters. Theres a reall great song that plays over it that kind of reminds me of a rocking version of Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground.
The first thing you do is choose your character. Each class fills a MMRPG type role and does better with certain weapons:
Roland (Soldier) - warrior - machineguns/shotguns
Lilith (Siren) - rogue/mage - stealth, elemental shots
Mordecai (Hunter) - hunter - sniper, pet attack
Brick (berserker) - tank - explosives, melee
Soon you meet Claptrap, who as I mentioned earlier is the greatest thing ever. Aside from his hilarious and endearing dialog/voice, his animations are top notch as well. He also kind of reminds me of the binomes in ReBoot.
Claptrap leads you through some introductory stuff - moving, shooting, opening things, etc. - and takes you to your first quest.
This is where the game starts to really show its WoW influence. The opening quests are structured almost exactly like the starting quests in WoW. First, something simple like talk to this guy over here. Then go kill a set number of low level mobs. Then go find someone else and take his quests. It all culminates in entering a cave and taking out your first boss. In my case, he dropped a blue pistol thats completely kickass - expanded magazine, increased accuracy, good damage, high rate of fire, and it sets enemies on fire!
Which brings me to the weapons. I read somewhere that the game has some kind of al gore rythym that allows it to create something like 100,000 unique weapons. At first I thought that that would all just be stat variations, but then I got this crazy ass-shot gun last night as a quest reward. It's like a it fires like spread shot in Contra, but it shoots out glowing blue particles that bounce along the ground in a straight line. I have a strong feeling that the weapons are going to get pretty damn interesting as the game goes on.
Enemy AI is good too. If you can see an enemy, theres a good bet that he can see you. Dogs will aggro in packs, and will flank you if they can. It can be pretty intense when you're surrounded by mutant beast dogs and you don't know where to run to. Human enemies will use cover, actively run away from grenades (which can be modded to behave different ways), and seem to know not to hind behind exploding barrels.
Shortly into the game you get a shield like that found in Halo. It drastically cuts back on the number of medkits you need to buy, which is super helpful. Best of all, it too is upgradeable with things like stronger shields, faster recharge time, healing, and some even trigger a damage shockwave when they get depleted!
The game also has a great map feature that's super easy to read, and marks your quest objectives clearly.
When you reach level 5, you get your first skill point, which is used to unlock your class power. I chose the soldier class, so my power is to drop a portable shield and auto-turret. It's saved my ass a number of times. After that, you get a skill point every level which you get to use in a three branched talent tree. For example, the soldier's branches break down into shooting boosts, turret boosts, and medic abilities. It's very much like WoW, except not as complex.
This game is SO fucking awesome, I can't recommend it enough.

Hoping that I can team up with you on Monday Collin. The store page doesn't say anything about PC users being able to play with 360 or PS3 users.

I wish I didn't suck so bad at FPS
It's a Roleplaying FPS, so it should be easier, kinda

It's pretty heavy on the FPS action, so if you get turned around or have trouble aiming at small targets its still gonna be a challenge.
As far as the 360/PC compatibility, that would be awesome, but don't they usually promote the hell out of games that take advantage of that? The only one I can remember that did it was Shadowrun and it had it blasted all over the packaging.

I guess tomorrow we will find out. If not that all I have to play with is Scott....

Would have been great if we had planned this out. We could have bought the 4 pack and saved a chunk of change.
