This is probably the longest movie review ever. The first ten minutes were hilarious at least.

listening to this guy talk makes me want a bag of Fritos, but he's right in a lot of bits.
I allways thought the best part of Phantom Menace was The Pod Racing. And I'm not talkin about the bit in the movie. I mean the game, Star Wars EpI: Racer. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_Episode_I_Racer

no...I think what I said encapsulates it well enough.....besides...I KNOW when I'm being retarded...mostly....sometimes...okay...never...but still....no.

If i have to "stick" to something...it's not worth my time....besides...I already knew the Phantom Menace suck...do I really need to listen to him?

I've finished the first segment and its completely awesome. Dude's voice annoyed me for a moment until I realized that he was doing it intentionally. I eagerly await finding the time to watch the rest of these. Good find Russ.

Against my better judgment I watched the whole thing
The Guy has read a Film Making 101 book, thinks he is a critic, and as the time to edit a lot of Star Wars clips together.
1st off the guys voice is annoying. I understand it's on purpose but the effect of "It's a inbred hic making insightful comments" wears thin quickly. The 'review' is really just a gimmick to look into the life of the reviewer character (who I don't like right off the bat because of the voice!).
It worked in series like "You Suck at Photoshop" because even though the videos were just a vehicle to make us laugh at how fucked up the guys life was (and make us wonder if it was David Cross or Dane Cook doing the voice over) but at it's core it still taught you something about Photoshop.
This review doesn't say anything new about the Phantom Menace that Star Wars fans haven't already found out themselves or has already been covered in other outlets. If it had come out in 2000 it would have been fantastic, but now it's really just a waste of 70 minutes of an ultimately unfunny gimmick.

Is he discussing a movie obejctively and with well thought out points? Psst.... that makes him a critic. Art and art criticism isn't like law or medicine, you don't have to have a formal education and a degree in order to practice it. You just have to have an opinion (like thinking TPM sucks) and be able to coherently explain your point (which he clearly does).

Granted, the voice is a little irritating, but i think it's pretty clear that the character is the gimmick for the review, not the other way around. I think it could have worked better if they had made the jokes more subtle. When its just a one off comment or a quick pan over human bones in the basement, the supblot is amusing. When he stops the review to have a conversation with a prisoner, it just doesnt work.

Except that it brought up some good explanations of why certain aspects of the movie suck and cited examples to prove it. And for the most part it was funny.

Criticism I find is best served fresh, unless you are trying to expose nostalgia. Just seems like everything he is saying in regards to the movie is just a rehash of stuff we all talked about 11 years ago.

Everything he said was already done. If I want an in depth look at Star Wars now it will be something like The People vs George Lucas that explores the negative backlash of Episodes 1, 2, and 3 contrasted with the still profound awe and love for the original films and the massive fan based created around them.
Again I just feel that doing a movie review of an 11 year old movie with out really bringing up anything that hasn't already been discussed to death just seems rather worthless.
