Please Welcome

Jami's new car, a 1963 VW 1500 (Type 3 Notchback). A true German car imported into the US at some point and apparently the oldest registered "N" model notchback registered in the US. Body is solid with a little rust under the doors, the engine is rebuilt and it's converted to 12 volt. Drove it home tonight!

Came with title, "official" birth certificate from the VW museum in Germany, and an English owner's manual.

Re: Please Welcome

Not sure about the color right now. Original paint was safari beige.

Re: Please Welcome

The interior is in amazingly good shape...not sold on the original color, but it's not repugnant.  Did that make any sense at all?

Re: Please Welcome

Interior isn't original either, some of the vinyl is peeling a little but overall it's not bad.

Actually the car would have been designated as a '64 model, since it was produced late '63. VW's production years ran August to August and this one rolled out in October '63. Whoever titled it in the states must have just checked the year it was made and put that down. Most likely a soldier stationed in Germany bought it and had it shipped over.

Re: Please Welcome

I think Harry Potter flew that to Hogwarts in year 2.

OMG you're RIGHT!  Although this one doesn't seem the worse for wear from the Whomping Willow.
