Evolution of the MMO

World of Warcraft is pretty much the king of MMO's for now.  It took the design elements that came before it and was able to create a product that did it all right.

That was 5 years ago.

Now we stand on edge of the future of MMOs.  Not just recycles of what came before done with a twist but all new experiences not yet seen.    The two clearest examples of this right now seem to be The Old Republic, giving us full voice acting, as well as a more directed character driven story.

The 2nd would be Guild Wars 2 which I could attempt to describe, but Arenanet does it soo much better

Both games promise a lot and time will only time if they deliver on all counts but even if they fail they will change the way these games are made for the future.
