I can totally dig and understand using a program to somehow relive a person's life 8 minutes before death to solve mysteries and crime, but in doing so it's clear that person is already dead as well as the other people caught in the event, so him wanting to somehow save the girl just throws my mind through the ringer
It be like leveling up Aeris to max level in FF7 to try and save her from dying even though you know she is going to anyway.
Mess with the Bulls and you get the horns.
