National Do Not Call Registry

If you haven't registered already:

https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx

Maybe this will stop the weird phone calls I've been getting from Montana.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

I just looked my numbers up and I've been registered since October 2010. It's good for 5 years I think. It probably helps but it won't eliminate all unwanted calls, obvs. Still a good thing to sign up for unless you're paranoid about the gov having your phone number.

Nevermind, your registration will not expire. So once you're in, you're in.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

It won't because the Do Not Call Registry is intended for land lines. It's already illegal for telemarketers to call cell phones, and unsolicited texts are a nono too. Check with your carrier to see if you can block certain numbers if they text you a lot.

File a complaint with the FCC: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

Or port your number to Google Voice, you can block numbers and mark them as spam just like emails. I ported my old cell phone number to GV and I've already made use of it. Somehow that number got onto a list or something because I was constantly getting calls and texts about free security systems, vacations, and whatnot.

The bottom line is most of these places autodialing and autotexting don't obey the law anyways, so a Do Not Call registry isn't going to stop them either.

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

Will it really work?  I haven't had a lady boner in years...

I really can't think of any better advice than this.
