Yeah, after seeing the season finale, it makes you wonder why the hell they spent so much time on the whole "hillbilly on the roof" scenario if it wasn't going to be resolved. They had six episodes to show us how awesome a zombie TV show could be and it just came across as eh. They just spent too much time sitting around not really doing anything and/or nothing really happening.
Spoiler (highlight to view):
Yes, the scene where Carl kills Shane in the comics was an awesome, while awkward, moment and I wish it had happened in the show. I hate Shane and hope he dies. And if they had stayed at the rock quarry, it might have happened, but since they went to the CDC, you knew that moment was already written out of the show.
I think I liked the first and maybe some of the second episode, then the last episode. There was too much filler with no payoff for only six episodes. Going to the CDC was very similar to
how they found a prison in the comic. It is one of the first times they seem to have hope and real food and hot showers and your like, you know, they might be able to survive this. Having it blow up and have all that nice stuff taken away, was interesting and a way to keep the show moving. But hopefully they won't be moving back to sitting around and not doing anything.
Overall, I hope the show does well and hangs in there. I give it a little too much credit here and there because I WANT to like it, but you have to admit, there has been some really bad acting and some really awful awkwardness. Whatever.
Here's to waiting another year for Season 2. Cheers.

Did you hear they fired all of the writers? I'll dig up the link. I stand corrected:

Spoiler (highlight to view):
Your right about the Prison vibe. When the find the books the dialog from there is ripped directly from the Prison Library scene in the books.

For anyone who is interested, the 1000 page trade paperback is floating around $30.

It was $30 a second ago, and is now $36. So it may be going up and down right now.
Keep an eye on it. Well worth every penny. Can not wait for compendium 2.
