I've made it through 4 seasons and just got the 5th one pretty cheap on bluray.  So I guess they are on season 6.  Great show!!!

So Weeds came back (3 weeks ago)...

yet another series I'm not sure why I still watch it but I do


Started as an interesting look at a Single Mother (husband died of a heart attack early in life) trying to help make ends meet by selling some pot, and was somehow in 5 seasons taken us to the Mom being remarried to some Mexo-American Governor/Crime Lord, and her youngest son killing the new husband's criminal handler.

While I don't quite remember all the details from season 5 I couldn't tell the last time Pot has been a plot device in this show.  Prime example of a show that started with no idea where it was going.

If you haven't seen the show I highly recommend the 1st two seasons, after that things get weird.  I'm just riding the roller coaster of insanity

The Walking Dead on AMC

Yeah, that's a lot of money.  The first 48 or 49 issues collected in the version I was after was going for $40 on Amazon until it was abruptly pulled off.  They were supposed to run another printing of that, so keep your fingers crossed for the $40 one to come back.

And the second season was picked up today and will be 13 episodes or so.  Cheers!

Oh Yes, I easily see myself walking into Borders again on Friday and dropping 140$ish on picking up Vol.s 3-12 (Vol 13 doesn't come out till Nov 10)

Which I am slight miffed at since its an entirely black and white book.  If you aren't paying for a colorist then why is your book the same price as books that do?

The Walking Dead on AMC

So I bought the 1st 2 trades of Walking Dead, and just finished reading the 1st and I'm shaking a little bit.

I've never been a fan of horror, but in a movie at least when I scene happens it continues independently of your watching/listening to it.  Reading Horror is so much more frightening because even when I want to just brace for impact and look away I have to continue reading because if I don't the moment will never pass.

As for the story is has a very Y The Last Man sort of feel to it, only with more ever looming death.

Kindle, I Haz One Too

Or more precisely, I got one for my girlfriend.  She reads books like I watch movies, so it will really help to cut down on all the physical books around the place and of course, much more mobile.  It showed up today right on time.  When they did the latest update and threw out a $140 wi-fi only version, I couldn't resist.  It is very small, thin, and light.  The front is a dark gray plastic and the back is kind of rubberized and a darker gray.  Comes with a USB cable that you slip into a wall plug for charging, first time I had seen anything like that.

The screen is unbelievably clear and sharp, with absolutely no light.  I guess I am so used to staring at a computer screen that I am having a hard time coming to grips with an electronic screen that doesn't use any light source.  E-ink is weird.  It can even reproduce pictures extremely well, which I wasn't expecting.  I was just thinking text, but it displays pictures of books in the book store and famous authors when you put it in sleep mode.

It comes with a dictionary, so you can look up words you don't know while you are reading.  Lots of different font types and sizes.  It took a little less than 10 seconds to download the first book.  Got it on the apartment wi-fi pretty quick.  It can talk to you, which is kind of weird, male or female voice.  Pretty neat so far.

The 6 episodes are good and bad.  Bad because its 6 episodes, but good because we at least know the story has a firm grasp of of its ending. 

I've seen way too many series lose themselves because they forgot how they needed to end.

Following Linkara on Twitter and he seems oddly dodgey about the interview.   While it isn't techinally his job to cover such things given his love of Power Rangers and support of the LGBT community I find his current dodgey-ness weird.

Side Note:  Did not know we were calling it LGBTI now.  Finally Transgenders are no longer the lowest on the totem pole!
