yeah, david and I were discussing the video last night. He hasn't seen it but as I was describing it he was remarking how Gaga made the music video NOT match the song.  He was quoting Lewis Black about how if you can see the music video and it syncs up with the song, just shoot yourself. Something about how music goes in your ears and visuals through you eyes and something something rather.  I'll make him watch it soon enough.

but yeah, I loved every part of it and the whole "See, I told you she didn't have a dick" was just hilarious. i loved her outfits, from the diet coke cans in the hair and the police tape to the abstract telephone hair do and hats.  The concept was awesome, it was so abstract and off topic from the song yet it seemed to go along with it anyways. I just love Gaga and I hate that I missed an opportunity see her in concert...

i have to admit... she's intriguing. She's fucking good at what she does and she really seems to pour a lot of heart, soul and imagination into her craft.

I think she's the strongest, most innovative voice in pop music right now.

Has everyone watched the video for Telephone yet? No? Head over to http://www.ladygaga.com and watch it before I get into spoilers while I discuss my thoughts on it. (Caution: the video is super racy and steamy. May not be SFW)

First off, wow. That is an awesome video. The costuming is just as bizarre as I was hoping for, it had a lot of humor, and it had a good share of WTF moments. It's another perfect Lady Gaga video. :)

Getting into specifics now, theres a whole lot going on the video that's worth talking about. It's great that she decided for the video to not match up with the meaning of the song, yet still tie it in just enough so that it's not completely out of left field. It starts out as homaging the classic Women in Prison movie Caged Heat and ends up dipping its toes into Thelma and Louise, all with a heavy Quentin Tarrantino vibe. And how great of it was Quentin to let Gaga use the Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill in the video? XD

The costuming is fantastic. I love the Prison Stripe outfit at beginning and all the shit she has stuck in her hair. My absolute favorites in the video though are the Police Tape bikini/bandages and the Smoking Cigarette glasses. I literally LOL'ed at those. XD

Theres also a lot of great flat out weirdness in the video. What is up with all the blatant product placement? At first it was irritating, but now I'm pretty sure that it's intentionally being visually intrusive. I wonder what message she's trying to send by doing that. The whole Let's Make a Sandwich scene is great; I love how her back up queens are dancing around holding cabbages up to their ears like phones. The Sandwich scene is almost a non-sequitur, but it ties in to the big finish of Beyonce and Gaga killing Tyrese (and an entire diner full of innocent people) by poisoning their food. The big, american flag bikini, choreographed dance number in the diner intercut with flashes of the people she just murdered is both hilarious and creepy as all shit.

I could keep going on and on about the video and all the awesome things in it. It's great when a music video gives you so much to digest that you can't cover it all in one post.




Also, I did finally break down and buy both of Lady Gaga's albums. Her first one, The Fame is just kind of okay. There's a few catchy songs that I didnt already know from the videos, but theres a lot of pop-fluff that makes me roll my eyes and reach for the Next Track button.

The Fame Monster, however, is fucking awesome. Every song on it is about a fear of some kind. It's a much darker album that has a strong, impactful sound to it, borrowing a lot from 80s and early 90s pop/dance. I've caught music/style/lyrical references to Madonna, Ace of Base, Duran Duran, and Depeche Mode. There's not a bad track on that disc and it's well worth buying at $10 or less.

I like my wheels, but I'm still thinking of getting them powdercoated something dark, like gunmetal.

The badgeless grille is only 85 bucks or so, and I could swap them out and then go back to stock if I prefer that.

Or I could pull the badge off and plastidip it black or something.
