wow. excellent, excellent stuff.
there's a reason why Google is so huge: they ARE damn good at what they do and ARE very innovative.
They're microsoft 20-25 years ago.
also... they actually got Scott McCloud to do the comic. thats awesome.

Awesome find. Thanks for the info. If they get a Mac version, let me know so I can try it out. So this would be better than Safari and Firefox?

Their ideas on improved security seem to have merit.
Does it record your browsing for "improved" performance? Does it report back to google with your browsing habits?

I am not a fan of "tab" browsing. I prefer opening multiple windows if I want to look at different stuff, but I guess I am just behind on the times or something.

Chromium is an open source project, so if it were spyware someone would have discovered it by now.

Tried it at work today. I like it, except for the most visited squares. The last thing I want at work is for the boss to see that i visit manateesex.com more than our own company web page.

True, but doesnt that page pop up whenever you open a new tab? Or does the new tab open to your homepage?

...what? I'm using it on Vista and it runs like a dream.
Microsoft fixed it a half hour after my post.

Oh and the fix for Vista users was:
Right click on the google chrome app in your Start \All Programs menu. Go to Properties. Add to the end of the target:
<space>--no-sandbox

It crashes on me somewhat frequently. Especially on java heavy pages.

Been using Chrome off and on for the past few weeks and it's basically my full-time browser now. It's almost like the perfect mix between Safari's speed and Firefox's functionality.
It's still Webkit-based, which I prefer to Gecko. And it's got the look and feel of a native Mac app, and very little window chrome which emphasizes and maximizes the viewport. I like that the status bar is gone most of the time, and only pops up when you hover on a link. I also like that it's more tab-centric than window-centric. New windows automatically open up in new tab next to its parent window, and the "open in new tab" option appears before "open in new window" in the context menus. Tabs are also incorporated into "Recently Closed", unlike Safari which will only show you recently closed windows, and not tabs for some reason.
It automatically works with GlimmerBlocker, which is nice since I already use it for Safari, and it automatically imports stored items from my keychain, which is really nice because there's no way I could start over with a blank form autofill. It's also got a built-in bookmark sync, which is handy but I don't hardly bookmark anything.
Overall it's definitely got "teh snappy", outperforming Firefox by a long shot and quite possibly faster than Safari too. V8 is definitely on par with Nitro. It also supports H.264 HTML5 video, which I find great.
I like Chrome extensions better than Firefox add-ons too. You don't have to relaunch the browser every time you install or remove an extension in Chrome. Some of the most useful ones I use are PageRank, AdBlock, FlashBlock, Proxy Switchy!, and shutup.css.
One thing I do miss from Safari is the ability to load PDF files in the browser window automatically. I think that's super useful vs. clicking do download, opening your download folder, then opening the PDF in Preview. One workaround I've found is the Docs PDF/PowerPoint Viewer extension, which will automatically link a PDF (or PowerPoint) to Google Docs. I still wish for a real PDF plugin though.
Also there isn't a Java plugin, which I find I don't really miss. There's not much use I have for Java anymore except for some speed tests and also some systems at work.
