Yeah I'm playing WoW again, the starter version is free to level 20. I figure that should give me a lot of gameplay since I don't have much time to devote to it. I started with a human warlock and I'm just goofing around doing simple quests and stuff, but it's been a long time since I've played and I see new things like races and classes and stuff. Do you have recommendations for what type of character I should roll and what I should do for casual gameplay?

Hunters are pretty standard for casual gameplay. With a Hunter, you can solo any quests you'll come across (except for dungeon-specific quests.)
They're crazy self-sufficient, good damage, have a built-in companion, etc.

Well, pet classes (such as the Demonology Warlock and the Beastmaster Hunter) are great casual, solo game play.
Since Cataclysm revamped the ENTIRE leveling process, its all new content. basically, you cant go wrong starting at level one, with ANY race/class/faction combo.
Dont be afraid to utilize the Looking For Dungeon (LFD) tool at pretty much any level. Its a great way to earn loot, XP and personal experience on how to play your class. It will automatically form a balanced party... even if the players themselves may not be 'balanced'.. lol.
a few notes:
you get your first mount at 20, your epic ground mount at 40. speed = more fun, faster.
in a city, ask an NPC City Guard where something is if you're having trouble finding stuff.
be sure to take some professions. you can either take gathering professions to make money (mining, skinning, herbalism) or
be a self-sufficient professional (mining/blacksmithing, herbalist/alchemist, etc). And dont forget the secondary professions.. cooking, fishing, first aid and Archeology.
Dont be afraid to Alt it up... make as many characters as you want. you might surprised by what role, race and style you like playing.
what server you on? I'm on Shadow Council for Alliance and Hyjal for Horde. if its possible to send money to a free account, i'll send you some starting funds.
WoW is better than ever when it comes to new players, casuals and all-around 'quality of life' standards.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for.
I got a little confused with my accounts. First, I recovered my old WoW account that expired in 2007. Then, it made me migrate it to a Battle.net account. Okay, fine. Then I added WoW Starter Edition (the free one) but it also had my old account as well, which was confusing. Either way, none of my characters were saved.
Apparently, reactivating my old account gave me seven days of free gameplay, which it turns out expired today. That's the one I've been playing on all week, because I wasn't clear on which account was which. Now that it's expired, I can't get back in without paying.
Which is fine, I was like level 6 or 7 and didn't put much effort into creating my guy. I pretty much hit randomize a few times and went in. But that was enough to get my feet wet.
So now I can begin anew on the starter edition with a new character. What server do you suggest I play on? Also, the starter edition has a lot of limitations, one of which I don't think you can send me any gold. Which is okay.

Shadow priests or mages are easy to solo with. I don't think you can trade or send money to a free account y'all. I'm on Blood Furnace and absolutely hate it. So I'm up for suggestions to move Miss Skweeq or create a new toon if you guys wanna get together and play some.

Wouldn't those be PvE servers?

Okay, shall we agree on a server and create new toons and play? I miss you guys. Collin? Ben? Darrin? B33j?? It could be fun if we keep it casual...
However, I must say, "FOR THE HORDE!!"

The Pokemon system seems interesting, but I don't know of anything that could bring me back to WoW at this point.

I think I was more wowed by the winner of the Cosplay contest.
Granted this is the opinion from an outsider looking in, but CATA seemed like it was accepted pretty half heatedly by the player base and this new expansion looks like pandering and draw out till their next MMO hits.
In no way saying I think WoW is crashing, I'm not an idiot, but the MMOscape is going to be getting shook up a bit with games like The Old Republic, TERA, and Guild Wars 2 in the not too distant future.
