Re: Bad Customer Service

Ooh, im going through one right now with AT&T!

I want to pre-order the iPhone 4S (im sorely in need of an upgrade to my old iPhone 3G)

So, i go to the AttWireless site and go through the motions of pre-ordering it, however my billing address is still my address in Folsom, CA... of course, your shipping and billing addresses need to be the same, makes sense.

So, i finally find the place to update my billing address on the website. There is a message there stating that i have to CALL THEM in order to update that info. hokay, no problem. I call them, yesterday, and very quickly i get a Customer Service rep. She seems utterly lost on how to update my address. She, apparently, has to load into multiple systems and change my address in all of them... while i'm on the phone with her, i'm refreshing the website and my address is not updating.

No problem, she says, i'll just manually put in your iPhone order and put in your new address when i do. cool beans. She takes my money and assures me that the addresses are correct. Oh, one last thing... you have to accept this Terms and Conditions email that we sent you to finalize the sale. no problem, i get the email immediately and click the link. the link takes me to the T&C page, where i put in my phone number, Billing Zip, etc. and hit Accept... 'Sorry, we dont have a order request for that phone number. use the number in the email we sent you."  Of course, the number is the same.

So, maybe it just takes a day or two for the new address to kick in. so, i try today. same error. i call ATT back up and tell them whats up. Just for giggles, while im on the phone with ATT, i try to put in my OLD ZIP in order to accept the T&C... it works. and then says this is the address we're shipping it to.. which is my OLD ADDRESS.

This CSR has the nerve to tell me "You should contact the resident of that address and tell them to immediately return the phone to us." O_o

i ask to speak to his manager.

The manager gets on the phone and cancels the order, so we can re-order it and make sure the correct address is REALLY in the system. The refund will be issued in 72 hours, but we can go ahead and put in a new order right now.
I say, "So, you want to double charge me for an item you cant send to the correct address? No. Call me when the refund has been deposited and the address has been correctly updated."

they will supposedly call me back Tuesday to retake my preorder.

I would like to point out that i followed ALL the instructions given to me by the ATT website and the people didnt even know HOW to help me. There's no way to change your address on the website any more, but the people at the number you're supposed to call have no idea how to update your address. wtf.

at least i got a live person, in the USA, on the phone VERY quickly when i called them.

Re: Bad Customer Service

Odd since it's a PRE-order, it should not come out of your account until it ships.  I pre-ordered my 4s and it hasn't been taken out.  Probably not until tomorrow which is the original ship date.

I tried to change my shipping address to the college, but couldn't  And that sux because no one will be home and it makes me nervous.  My last two iPhones have come via USPS with no problems so...

Edit: Spooki seems to be getting the shaft a lot these days eh?  :-/

Re: Bad Customer Service

Scott, have you tried ordering directly from Apple instead?

Re: Bad Customer Service

Yes, same issue. the billing address and the shipping address must be the same. of course, i'm still having to tie it to an existing AT&T number, even through the Apple site... im not paying $700 for a new (unlocked) phone.

Re: Bad Customer Service

Well, I guess that's true...Apple would just be hooked into AT&T's customer database.

Anyways speaking of the 4S, I made a new topic about it: http://moloth.com/forums/viewtopic.php?pid=34931

Re: Bad Customer Service

The Battlelog system is interesting because assuming you have your buddies on an IM client it is super simply to copy and past them an IP, but shouldn't be a forced option.   Maybe force it to launch that way the 1st time but with a pop-up clearing show how to disable it and have an in game server browser as well.

Many people are cutting Origin slack siting "Remember when Steam sucked when it launched?"  But Steam was a new thing at the time, and Origin isn't even doing the Steam thing soo it's no excuse.

Another reason to not pre-order SW:TOR from Origin

Re: Bad Customer Service

Not necessarily bad customer service, but several years ago I purchased a license for VueScan so I could use my scanner. It was 40 bucks. At some point I formatted my iMac and went to download the software again. But apparently my license was only good for the previous version of VueScan, to use the newest version I would need another license.

Well that's fine, I don't really want to buy another license and the old version worked ok for me anyways. Unfortunately I started poking around for the older version and it's nowhere on their site for download. I even searched the Internet for an archived copy somewhere, and turned up nada.

So I had a legal, valid license for software I could not have anymore. Great. I grabbed a new serial out of Serial Box and cracked the latest version and didn't feel bad about it.

Re: Bad Customer Service

Its strange how some companies will make it difficult for you to give them money for their product.

i dont think they really understand how this whole 'money' thing works...

Re: Bad Customer Service

If it's that hard to give them money, think of how hard is it to get it back.

Re: Bad Customer Service

Well it was easy to give them money. Just hard to get what I paid for.
